MTN sponsors Marcos Baghdatis
MTN has announced a three-year sponsorship to our champion tennis player, Marcos Baghdatis. The announcement was made during a press conference held today in the presence of MTN’s representatives and Marcos Baghdatis.
In his brief speech, Mr Dany Dweik, MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, said that this sponsorship is part of MTN’s overall plan in becoming an active member of the Cypriot society, contributing, not only to the Cypriot economy, but also to the Cypriot community, by supporting sports and athletics, education, health and culture. “Tennis,” said Mr. Dweik, “is becoming an even growing sport in Cyprus, and MTN recognizes Marcos’ important contribution to this growth, thus, deciding to support him for all he has done to himself and extendedly to the overall promotion of Cyprus, overseas.” Marcos Baghdatis has expressed its gratitude to MTN for this support and he highlighted that such gestures contribute towards the advancement of the sports world, providing youngsters with a variety of choices for healthy activity. MTN Group, which operates in 21 countries, has developed an extensive plan in supporting the sports, something that is considered a natural expansion of its operations. MTN Cyprus, which started with football by becoming the Mega Sponsor of APOEL football team, is continuing its active support to the sports world with the three-year sponsorship to Marcos Baghdatis, contributing thus to tennis. Additionally, MTN Group is the main sponsor for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 in Ghana and for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. - ends -
