Spectacular football and plenty of goals at MTN charity event
Football fans were treated to an outstanding display and many goals during a charity game between MTN Cyprus and the Special Olympics team, which took place at the GSP training ground. The cause and the participation of players from champions APOEL attracted many spectators to the game.
APOEL fielded all its stars in the first half in which coach Ivan Jovanovic was the referee. Sports writers from various media joined the game in the second half on MTN’s side.
The game was packed with action and wonderful displays of skill from all the players but the Special Olympics team’s passion and fighting spirit helped them clinch a 12-11 victory.
MTN Cyprus donated €100 to the Special Olympics for every goal scored while the proceeds from the sale of food and beverages were also added to the contribution.
MTN Cyprus CEO Bassel Jamaleddine thanked all those who contributed to the success of the event and especially company staff who supported the ‘21 days of Y’ello care’ programme for the third year running.
“MTN has proven its social sensitivity and especially its interest for the development of athletics,” Jamaleddine said. “MTN’s support for the Special Olympics will be substantial and long lasting so that it contributes to the development of the children’s skills and talents.”
