MTN Cyprus signed a €20 million agreement with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd for a network infrastructure upgrade

MTN Cyprus announced today the completion of its network infrastructure supplier selection, following the signing of an agreement with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world.

The signing of the agreement took place at MTN’s headquarters in Nicosia in the presence of the Ambassador of China Mr. Zhao Yali, Mr. Nikolas Shacolas, MTN Cyprus Chairman, Mr. Bassel Jamaleddine, MTN Cyprus CEO and Mr. Zhou Tiabing, Vice-president of HUAWEI North Africa Regional Office.

Under the new agreement announced today, Huawei will supply core and radio access network equipment, worth €20 million in total, to facilitate MTN’s rollout of a fast mobile Internet service across Cyprus. 

The network is specifically designed to deliver speed, capacity, and mobility to meet the growing demands for wireless broadband services. The network’s efficiency is the result of standards-based technology, offered from industry-leading providers. 

“The signing of the agreement commences the beginning of a new era for MTN as it results to the improvement of the quality of the services, increase of the network capacity, extension of the coverage to the benefit of the consumers and also creates new job openings” said Mr. Nikolas Shacolas, MTN Cyprus Chairman.
