Twin Cards

The MTN Twin service gives all pay monthly customers the benefit of two SIM cards, using just one GSM number. The service operates by simply switching off your primary card and then all voice calls will be diverted automatically to the Twin card, at no extra cost to you. There are no codes and there is no need to activate/deactivate the card you are using each time.

The two SIM cards will have a common voicemail box for maximum flexibility and you will be sent just one bill. Both SIM cards can be used simultaneously, for example you can receive calls to your primary card whilst surfing the web with your Twin card.

The Twin card is ideal for use in an in-built car kit or for data card users and will save you the hassle of switching between devices. In addition, it is great for customers who want to keep one card in the office and the other at home, or it can be given to children who don’t have their own mobile so they can contact home when they are out. These are just a few of the many uses of the service.

The Twin card will have a separate price plan called MTN Twin. This has no monthly fee or inclusive minutes/SMS. Calls made will be charged at standard out of bundle rates. A connection fee of € 19.55 / £ 11.44 incl VAT applies. Your primary card will continue to operate on a standard pay monthly plan – see table below:

This service is available at MTN service centres only.

Important things to know

A second number is in place on the TWIN card, for tracking purposes only and this will be shown on the bill. Calls for each SIM card will be separated out on one bill, under each number.
Calls from the primary card will show the main number. Calls from the TWIN card will not show anything (CLR).
Only the primary card can receive inbound calls. If you call the TWIN number directly, you will hear an ‘out of service’ message.
SMS and MMS can be sent from and delivered to both cards independently. Messages sent from the TWIN card will show the second number.
GPRS/3G/P2T can be used on both cards.
Fax messaging is only available on the primary card.
You must activate your voicemail from either card by calling 121 and define your PIN number as well as recording your personalised greeting.

Terms and Conditions

MTN Twin is available to new and existing MTN pay monthly subscribers.
The Service is available only at MTN Service Centres.
Calls for each card will be separated out on one bill.
Transferring calls from one card to the other while on international roaming depends on foreign networks. You are advised to carry always with you the primary card.
The Twin Card is activated daily at 18:00 of the same day, provided that the application is filed until 16:00. If the application is filed after 16:00 or on a Saturday, the Twin Card will be activated on the following working day at 18:00.
