Push 2 Talk

Push2Talk is a service that basically allows a mobile phone to function as a two-way radio, or walkie talkie style.

You select the person or group of people you wish to contact and then you press and hold the talk button while speaking into the handset.

As long as the people you are speaking to have a compatible handset they will receive your message in real-time through the loudspeaker.

How to get started?

As long as you are an active MTN subscriber, pay monthly or Pay as you Go, you can get Push2Talk service as follows:

Step1

All MTN subscribers must go to an MTN retail shop or to any MTN authorized reseller in order to fill in the application for activation of Push2Talk service.

Step2 - Install Push2Talk Settings:

You can get the settings over-the-air by sending a text message to 8855 with the text:
Go PTT
e.g. GO PTT Nokia 6600
(Please note not all handsets may be sent the Push2Talk Software over-the-air)

Step3 -Install Push2Talk Software

You can get the Push2Talk software over-the-air by sending a text message to 8855 with the text:
GET PTT
e.g. GET PTT Nokia 6600

Note: For your convenience, the application of Push2Talk settings and software can be done at any MTN shop or at any MTN authorized reseller.

You may form personal groups.
You may speak one-to-one or one to many (up to 10 contacts at the same time).
Contacts may be managed via the handset and via the web (visit our website http://ptt.mtn.com.cy.

The Push2Talk service provides you with a presence status which allows you to inform your contacts on your status:
Online. User is online.
Offline. User is offline.
Do not disturb. User is not reachable for other users but can initiate Push2Talk calls.
Page me. Any incoming call should be accepted by user.

In order to use the Push2Talk service you must have one of the following handsets, which are compatible with the service.

Pay as you Go plans

Pay as you Go subscribers may choose between two charging options:

Option 1. Monthly charge Subscribers will be charged €19.65 / £ 11.50 per month for unlimited usage.
Option 2. Pay as you push Subscribers will be charged per push € 0.03 / £ 0.019 perpush.

Terms and Conditions

Push2Talk is available to all MTN pay monthly and Pay as you Go subscribers in Cyprus.
All communicating parties must be subscribers of Push2Talk and have Push2Talk enabled handsets, which are compatible with the MTN network.
Push2Talk is available anywhere where there is MTN network coverage. There is no national or international roaming capability with MTN Push2Talk.
Push2Talk cannot be used to connect with another network, even if a user on another network has a Push2Talk enabled handset.
You may experience a delay before Push2Talk can be connected.
MTN does not guarantee that the Push2Talk service will be uninterrupted or error free. The performance of, and access to an interaction with, Push2Talk is subject to the limitations of the technology on which it is based and may be adversely affected by network performance and other operational factors beyond MTN's control, including congestion, network coverage, dropped connections, the performance of wireless devices and the maintenance of secure network connections.
MTN reserves the right to limit throughput or terminate data services without notice to anyone we believe is using the MTN Push2Talk service in any manner prohibited below:
- access to the Internet, intranets or other data networks
- any applications that tether your phone to laptops, personal computers or other devices for any purpose
- uploading, downloading or streaming of movies, music or games
-sustained, high bandwidth applications, including without limitation, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, Voice over IP other than Push2Talk, or peer-to-peer file sharing
-as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections.
