Mobile Number Portability

Keep your number when switching to MTN. Switching from another network to MTN does not mean that you need to change your existing number… you just need to “port” it.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

The Mobile Number Portability procedure is free of charge and may be completed at any MTN, Germanos or selected MTN Distributor point of sale; at the point when your application is received by our Mobile Number Portability Department, 4 business days are required to conclude the process. During the MNP Process, you can use your GSM line without any interruptions. Upon the completion of the procedure you will be notified by SMS informing you about the date and time of the portability.

Where should I go to port my number?

You can visit any MTN, Germanos or selected distributor retail outlets where a Mobile Number Portability request form will be filled out along with a monthly Voice contract with the help of an MTN representative.

What will i need to bring with me?

European Union citizen:
  • Your identification card along with
  • Your latest GSM line telephone bill, the one that you wish to port, (only for an MTN Pay Monthly subscription)

Non European citizen:
  • Your passport 
  • Your latest GSM line telephone bill, the one that you wish to port, (only for a MTN Pay Monthly subscription)
If you are representing a legal entity, you will need to bring the following:
  • Company’s Certification of Registration from the Register of Companies 
  • The Authorization certificate of the person signing the application for cases where this person is not included in the certificate of the directors and needs a director’s authorization to sign the documents on behalf of the legal entity. 
  • Identification card of the person signing the application 
  • The most recent telephone bill of the number being ported, (only for a pay monthly subscription) 
  • Shareholders certificate/ certificate of directors

* If you wish to cancel the MNP procedure for your GSM line, you will have to do so within 2 business days of filling your application form. If the application is cancelled after the two business days from the submission of your application a cancellation fee of € 17 (inc.VAT) will apply.
