Total Prizes worth 35.000 euro and collaboration opportunities for the three MTN Innovation Challenge finalists

In the event that took place on Friday, 19th September at MTN’s headquarters, the company’s representatives awarded prizes to the three finalists of MTN Innovation Challenge competition, who were announced last May.

Phase 1 has been completed and the top three teams emerged after the evaluation of the 48 start-ups that participated in the competition, which was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Works.

The three finalists, who proceeded to Phase 2, were awarded total prizes worth 15.000 euro and in addition, they get the opportunity to test their ideas in the MTN Service Delivery Platform and lay the foundations of a long-term business partnership with MTN. The teams that stood out, on account of the creativity and sustainability of their proposals, are:

•        HeyGo
•        talktokkie

The three finalists will compete for the grand prize of 20.000 euro in the second and final phase of the competition.

MTN Innovation Challenge 

MTN Innovation Challenge is a competition about entrepreneurship and innovation. Contestants submitted their business ideas and proposed services and applications that utilize the MTN Service Delivery Platform. MTN is the first telecommunications provider in Cyprus that allows access to its platform.

In total 48 teams entered the competition. Upon the completion of Phase 1, when the contestants presented their business proposals to the judges, three finalists emerged to proceed to the next phase.

Each of the three finalists wins 5.000 euro and gains access to the MTN Service Delivery Platform for two months. During the second and final phase of the contest, the three finalists must implement and refine their business idea. The prevailing team shall will the grand prize of 20.000 euro, as well as the opportunity to promote their idea through the MTN network!
