MTN concludes its volunteering programme with a special event at the MTN Park, the park that MTN reconstructed in Pallouriotissa!

 A special event full of joy, fun and education about internet safety was organized by MTN, at the park that MTN “adopted” and reconstructed at Pallouriotissa area. The event was the closing ceremony of MTN’s volunteering programme “21 Days of Y’ello Care”, which was this year dedicated to educating the public about cyberbullying and internet safety.

Hundreds of our fellow citizens joined the event so as to be informed, offer their children moments of fun with games, face painting and other activities, and at the same time support the charity organization Angaliazo through the purchase of food and drinks.

During the event, the MTN cyclists after having covered a total distance of 85 kilometres, starting from Limassol, finished their charity ride at the MTN Park. MTN offered 100 euro for every employee participating in the cycling ride, amount that will be dedicated for the purchase of tablets for schools. The children’s music band Drumble Beats played live, and the musical entertainment continued with a Live Link. The event was also attended by representatives of Cyber Ethics, whose help to MTN and its internet safety campaign was invaluable.

The official opening of the MTN Park was announced by the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Kadis and the Deputy Mayor of Nicosia, Ms Eleni Loukaidou.

MTN CEO, Mr. Philip Van Dalsen, stated: “We are very pleased that we have concluded this year’s volunteering programme, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, with such a great event. For 21 days, the personnel of our company has worked voluntarily for a common purpose. This year, the purpose was to educate the public about internet safety. We will continue expressing our appreciation to all our subscriber who trusted us, with actions that effectively improving people’s lives, deriving from our services as well as through our social contribution activities.”

The Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Kadis, has stated: “The fact that companies have taken initiative on the vital issue of educating the public regarding the safe use of the internet, sends a message of cohesion and solidarity. We welcome with joy this MTN initiative, which is taking on a responsibility equivalent to its leading role in telecommunications. We consider it as supporting to our own mission, and we are always open to joint effort proposals that will benefit our fellow citizens.”
