MTN awarded €20.000 to the winner of the MTN Innovation Challenge contest, at the Open Coffee Cyprus event.

Another Open Coffee Cyprus, the well-established series of meetings for the startup business and technology community of Cyprus supported by MTN, took place on 19 November.  The teams which proceeded to the final stage of MTN Innovation challenge, presented their business proposals for the first time at the Open Coffee Cyprus and the winner received a cash prize of €20.000 from MTN. At the same time, the guest speakers from the international startup community, Alain Le Loux and Marius Starcke, provided the tech community of Cyprus with invaluable advice.

TOpen Coffee Cyprus is always conducted with the support of MTN, which believed in the limitless possibilities of Cypriot young entrepreneurs. As a result, MTN invited young entrepreneurs to present their business proposals within the framework of the pioneering MTN Innovation Challenge contest.

In total, 48 start-up teams participated in the contest. The three finalists of the competition, HeyGo, Talktokkie and FitSlot presented their business ideas for the first time, and impressed the audience.  Finally, Talktokkie was awarded the first prize. Guest speakers Alain Le Loux, mentor of Startupbootcamp HighTechXL, which is Europe’s leading accelerator programmes for startups, and Marius Starcke, member of the Board of Directors of STARTeurope, shared useful tips regarding the area of startups and elaborated on topics such as how can startups connect to businesses.

MTN always gives more to the startup community: It continues supporting Cypriot startups with initiatives like the ΜΤΝ Innovation Challenge which aim to empower startup entrepreneurship.
