MTN Cyprus’ annual initiative ‘‘21 Days of Y’ello Care’’, through which MTN employees offer volunteer work to charity organizations all over Cyprus for 21 continuous days, took place between 1st until the 21st of June, supporting social groups that are in need for help.   MTN collaborated with AGKALIAZO foundation, as well as with Karavani Allileggyis, Nicosia Mercy Centre, Lakatamia and Larnaca Municipalities and Ministry of Health, by contributing in their activities.

MTN volunteers collected and sorted food during the charity concerts held in Finikoudes area, Larnaca and Lacatamia Amphitheater, aiming to support the respective local Social Grocery Stores. MTN employees, who participated in the Antismoking Campaign Event organized by the Ministry of Health in Faneromeni area, Nicosia, as well as in the charity schemes of the Cyprus Archdiocese in Paphos and Larnaca, undertook similar duties. Many of them also participated in the Nicosia Mercy Center activities, by buying food and cooking meals for the less fortunate.

In the context of 21 Days of Y’ello Care, MTN held a Bazaar at its Makariou Avenue Store. Part of the proceeds, €5000 in specific, was donated to Nicosia Social Grocery Store. The positive response of MTN employees set the ground for another special charity event at the company’s parking area in Kennedy Avenue. The event’s goal was accomplished, since a large number of food supplies and clothes were gathered by MTN employees for the people in need.

Not only did the above mentioned actions of the ‘‘21 Days of Y’ello Care’’ scheme offer immediate help and relief to our society’s most vulnerable members, but most importantly they promoted the values of social solidarity and volunteerism. Encouraging employees to give back to the society is the fundamental core of MTN’s philosophy and it also applies to its affordable plans, which make communication and technology accessible goods to all.
